The Sir Thomas White Loan Charity is delighted to announce that a sum of £174,400 has been awarded in interest-free loans to people within Leicestershire, following the conclusion of the charity’s second quarter of 2021.
One of Leicester’s oldest charities, having been established in 1542, The Sir Thomas White Loan Charity provides loans to people within Leicestershire which are truly unique. Loans awarded by The Sir Thomas White Loan Charity are completely interest-free, with borrowers having a three-year rest period before equal monthly repayments commence over the following six years.
In the second quarter of the year, a total of 10 interest-free loans, totalling £134,400 have been awarded. Ventures that are set to benefit from the charity’s funding include a haulage company, a clothing brand and a tattoo artist.
The charity’s interest-free loans can be accessed to fund start-ups and businesses already trading which are seeking investment to enable them to develop. These loans are available to the value of £20,000.
Alongside these loans, The Sir Thomas White Loan Charity provides loans of up to £10,000 to support students wishing to enrol in postgraduate study.
This quarter saw a total of four education loans provided which will support an MSc in Mental Health Research and Practice, and an MA in Contemporary Art Practice.
David Howard, Chair of Trustees at The Sir Thomas White Loan Charity, said: “This quarter’s figures have highlighted the number of businesses that can benefit from our charity’s unique funding; however, we’re sure there are plenty more that we can help which have experienced tough times over the past year. We have funds in excess of £1 million available to lend to businesses in our county; funds we want to lend – so I’d encourage any eligible prospective borrower to apply or get in touch for more information.”
Applications are now being welcomed for The Sir Thomas White Loan Charity’s third quarter of 2021, with those interested required to submit their application by 3.30pm on Thursday 1 July.
In addition, The Sir Thomas White Loan Charity recently announced that it is providing business grants to the value of £5,000 to existing businesses in Leicestershire and Rutland in need of support. Applications for these must be submitted by 31 August 2021.
