Success Story: Mother-of-Four Pursues Profession and Parenthood

Have you got a talent you think you could turn into a business? Think you could be the best in your field of expertise?

Mother-of-four Natalie Godefroy from Beauty Defined knew she had the skills to succeed in her industry and started her own beauty clinic back in 2011. With help from The Sir Thomas White Loan Charity, Natalie has managed to grow her own company while managing her family life at the same time.

natalie - beauty definedBeauty Defined is an appointment-only beauty aesthetic clinic specialising in luxurious and highly effective specialist treatments, based in Union Wharf in Market Harborough.

Natalie has been in the beauty industry for 18 years and specialises in permanent makeup. She has worked with some of the UK’s most talented makeup artists and has also made a name for herself along the way: “I admired inspirational makeup artists and therapists with exceptional reputations within the beauty industry, they have been true inspirations. I knew I had ability so I went for it!”

With our help Beauty Defined has changed from a solo project to a thriving business with a full team providing a wide range of treatments. Natalie said:  “Beauty Defined has grown from strength to strength. From a mobile artist I now have a successful clinic and employ five therapists.”

But Natalie doesn’t plan on stopping there – she wants to keep developing the clinic and hopes Beauty Defined will become a well-established company with steady growth. A loan from STWLC gave Natalie the opportunity to develop and train to the highest industry standards, and now she can pass on her expertise and experience to the junior members of her team.

Natalie always wanted to follow her artistic passions, but as a mother-of-four she needed to find a way to balance her family life with her career aspirations.

Starting her own business wasn’t something Natalie had planned, but choosing to do so has proved to be a smart decision: “I wanted to have the freedom to fulfil my role as a mother and to pursue my career as an artist. Having my own business has allowed the best work life balance.”

Sacrifices always have to be made when you start a family, but Natalie proves that you can pursue your passions and be a parent as well.

When asked what she’d say to anyone applying for a loan from us Natalie said: “I would highly recommend it and putting together the business plan will give you direction for your business.”
