STWLC Announce Record Quarter

The Sir Thomas White Loan Charity (STWLC) has announced an incredible record-breaking quarter, which saw the Charity provide over £170,000 in interest-free business and education loans to young people within Leicestershire and Rutland.

Following the Charity’s latest round of quarterly interviews with prospective borrowers, held in August, STWLC approved a grand total of £171,656 in loans to people aged between 18 and 35 in the region.

Of that sum, £57,000 has been approved in business loans, whilst an incredible £114,656 was provided in education loans.

One of the county’s oldest charities, the Sir Thomas White Loan Charity – based on De Montfort University’s main campus on Mill Lane in Leicester city centre – provides loans to individuals within Leicestershire and Rutland to help finance business start-ups, or fund post-graduate study anywhere in the world. Interest-free for a period of nine years, STWLC also provide borrowers with a three-year grace period before loans are to start being paid back in equal instalments.

Hugh Stevenson, Chairman of the Sir Thomas White Loan Charity, said:

“We are absolutely delighted to be able to announce a record-breaking quarter for the Sir Thomas White Loan Charity.

“Over the years, we have been privileged to help develop businesses that have grown into some of Leicester’s most renowned organisations, whilst also helping to provide funds that allow people to reach their full potential through post-graduate study.

“With our next round of interviews with prospective borrowers taking place in November, I encourage anybody between the ages of 18 and 35 in Leicestershire and Rutland with a business idea, or aspirations of studying further, to get in touch and register for an application. We will also send a STWLC Business Plan template, on which all plans should be submitted.”

The Sir Thomas White Loan Charity’s next round of interviews takes place on 3rd, 5th, 6th and 11th November 2014, with all applications to be submitted by early October.
