What is it?
The Sir Thomas White Loan Charity has been in existence since 1542
and was founded by one of the City's most generous (but least well known)
benefactors, Sir Thomas White. Although he never actually set foot in
Leicester, Sir Thomas is honoured by being included as one of the four
statues around the Clock Tower in Leicester city centre.
We are an Equal Opportunities organization providing loans for new
business ideas and young businesses needing investment.
Eligible candidates may borrow up to £12,000 interest free for
9 years to establish themselves in their chosen career.
To be eligible for consideration for a loan you must be over 18 and
under 35; you must conduct your business in Leicestershire or Rutland
for the duration of the loan, and must be able to demonstrate that the
business has the potential to succeed.
You must also have a real need for the loan, without which your project
would not proceed unless you had assistance from the charity - in other
words, you have insufficient
personal funds or credit status to secure such funds elsewhere.
