Not Just For New Businesses

Sir Thomas White Loan Charity Ambassador Lee Tomes has benefited from both forms of interest-free investment available from the charity.

Having initially engaged with the charity to take out an education loan to fund his postgraduate study in London, Lee – having returned to Leicester following his studies – set up Orange Fox Studios.

The video production agency, based in Phoenix Square in Leicester’s city centre, thrived. However, Lee wanted to be able to offer clients an enhanced service and product. As a side note, Lee also wanted to be able to focus on being able to work on projects that enabled him to utilise his creativity and skillset to the fullest. In order to deliver all of that, he required additional investment.

After reading an edition of the Sir Thomas White Loan Charity’s eNewsletter, Lee discovered that even though he was an education loan borrower, he was still eligible to obtain an interest-free loan to develop Orange Fox Studios. Once he learned of this, getting in touch to apply was a no-brainer.

“I wanted to diversify what the company could offer,” explains Lee. “It’s been two years since I started Orange Fox Studios and now I’m looking to move the agency towards story-telling, whether that be film and video, animation or motion graphics.

“The brand work wasn’t for me, as it’s simply not my speciality – but in business you try things and you assess how it works for all parties.

“The business loan I took out from The Sir Thomas White Loan Charity was to buy new equipment,” Lee adds. “I’ve now upgraded to loads of new 4K kit, which enables me to up my day rate – so whilst I’m in a transitional period, I’m very excited.”
